Felidhoo, Keyodhoo & Thinadhoo

Vaavu’s other local islands

Vaavu, also called Felidhu Atoll, is one of the most thinly populated atolls in the Maldives, with only a handful of inhabited islands. Fulidhoo is the one most visitors know, but its neighbours offer the same local-island life — often even quieter — and the same reefs and channels.

Felidhoo is the atoll capital, with the atoll’s administration, a harbour and several guesthouses. Keyodhoo lies close to it and has its own guesthouses, as does Thinadhoo. Rakeedhoo, further south, is the smallest. Distances are modest by boat, but connections depend on the ferry days or on arranging a speedboat.

What to see and do: Felidhoo, Keyodhoo & Thinadhoo

Stay somewhere even quieter

If Fulidhoo feels busy on a day when tour boats arrive, Keyodhoo, Felidhoo or Thinadhoo can feel like having an island almost to yourself. Each has a bikini beach and guesthouses that run snorkel and dive trips.

Island-hop

With a few extra days you can split your stay between two Vaavu islands, using the public ferry on the days it runs, or a shared or private speedboat.

Dive from a different base

Some of Vaavu’s dive operators are based on these islands, closer to sites further south. Ask about the sites they visit before you choose where to stay.
